Small Hotels on Puerto Rico’s South Coast; Porta del Caribé

The southern coast and central mountains of Puerto Rico offer some of the best options for combining a Caribbean beach vacation with side-trips to explore the culture of Poncé, the home of ‘Don Q’ rum, coffee plantations and the natural wonders of the Phosphorescent Bay.

This is the area from Patillas to Guánica we refer to as Porta Caribe – Puerto Rico’s Caribbean Coast.

Fly into either San Juan (SJU) and take the scenic drive on the route #52 expressway south across the central mountains toward Poncé.  Some flights arrive in the heart of the South Coast in Ponce’s Airport (PSE) – or on the West Coast of Mayaguez (MAZ) where you can follow route #2 south toward Poncé.

The following small hotels are members of the Puerto Rico Hotel & Tourism Association.

Marina de Salinas – Playa de Salinas

Located on the south coast of Puerto Rico, Marina de Salinas sits by a bay in the Caribbean Sea, with mangroves as our most beautiful “coast-scaping”.

It is truly a tropical paradise with year round sunshine and with people as warm and inviting as its weather.

We have a full variety of alternatives for your enjoyment and relaxation. With eight miles of keys, exploring them in kayaks is an option, or take a ride around the bay in water cycles.

Or, sit back and relax in one of our resting areas.
